Launching the Brugeo project

Published on

The Brugeo project started on January 1, 2016, and is a research-oriented project. Its goal is to promote the Brussels-Capital region's geothermal potential. The project is coordinated by the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and its partners include the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (through the Geological Survey of Belgium), Environment Brussels, and the Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI).

The ERDF aims to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions. The ERDF provides various grants and funding instruments:

  • direct aid to investments in companies to create sustainable jobs;
  • infrastructures linked notably to research and innovation, telecommunications, environment, energy and transport;
  • financial instruments (capital risk funds, local development funds, etc.) to support regional and local development and to foster cooperation between towns and regions;
  • technical assistance measures.
